Braces Do More Than Create a Pretty Smile

Some people think that braces are worn only for cosmetic reasons, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. There are so many benefits to orthodontic treatment. From relieving headaches, earaches, and jaw pain to moving teeth into their ideal position, there isn't much that orthodontic treatment can't help. The ultimate goal of orthodontic treatments is to create a healthy bite to chew food efficiently and comfortably. However, straightening your smile for cosmetic purposes is also completely valid!

Traditional braces are available in metal, porcelain, and even plastic. The brackets are secured to surrounding teeth to help shift a tooth into its optimal position. Some brackets can even be placed on the tongue side of your teeth, concealing them from view.

Do your future self a favor.

Braces prevent chipped teeth and premature wear. If a bite is not aligned correctly, the teeth can make contact in odd places, causing chips and wearing the teeth down in unnatural places that sometimes require fillings or crowns to repair. An untreated, misaligned bite can also create speech problems. Words are formed by positioning the tongue against the teeth. If the jaw or teeth are out of alignment, it can be difficult for the tongue to make the right noise as it presses against the teeth.

See the Difference

While aligner treatment works well for some individuals, some movements may not be possible with clear trays. In those cases, traditional braces are the only way to get the results necessary for a straight smile and a healthy jaw-joint relationship. Clear aligners are not recommended for children because they are far more likely to remove their aligners, lose them, or not appropriately follow treatment plans with aligners.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic evaluation around 7-years-old or after their permanent front teeth have come in. Addressing issues while your child is young can increase compliance, and reduce complications since a parent can still oversee their oral care routine. Being proactive can reduce treatment time, overall discomfort, and preserve your child's natural teeth.

You're never too old for a perfect smile or relief from jaw-joint discomfort.

More than 25% of the current 4 million orthodontic patients in the United States are adults. Nowadays, many dental benefit plans offer adult orthodontic coverage. Therefore, more adults are seeking out the beauty and function of a straight smile than ever before!

Benefits of Braces.

Powerful.

Traditional braces can solve problems that other methods can’t and prevent issues in the future.

Health.

Your teeth are meant to mash food so that it is easier for the body to digest. If your teeth don’t line up properly, food may not be broken down enough, resulting in poor digestion.

Confidence.

Your smile matters. A gorgeous smile connects with those around us and facilitates social and career success in our lives.

Smile Effortlessly.

Take our orthodontic assessment and see if you're a good candidate.
